why are the indians putting this movie down?
even though the movie shows that there are troubles there, isnt it also showing that indians are smart and tough also?
dear foxlight and boyle,
I bought your dvd on march 31.09 I just wanna see the special features, it printed on the dvd cover that there are special feature. but i don’t see none of the feature in the video, so I bring it back to store for refund at walmart. and they refunded the money to me. can you tell me where I can buy the dvd with bedhind the scence? thank you?
India has made nukes, submarines, rockets and stellites but 80% of the Indians cant eat. bollywood films does not reflect the real side of the Indian people, those are pictured in foreing countries. In real life, we dont sing and dance too. This is a realistic movie.
Look at the bigger picture,,,what will happen to the slum children who acted in this movie…even if they get a good amount of money ..what about the slum they come from.. what did they gain from a film which was inspired from their life???
it start like
Are you 4 real ???? where did you get that from ?? I wanna see it..
India submits movies for the Oscars each year and none of them receive any recognition. This movie received recognition because it is made for western/global sensibilities, not Indian sensibilities. This movie is a true global creation: US money, UK direction and Indian acting/location. Indians need to stop viewing everything through the prism of post-colonial inferiority and be okay with the fact that the world loves this movie. We are one world, we all need each other.
I am an Indian. Indian people need to calm down and quit trashing this movie. The only Indian movies that will ever make it big globally are non-Bollywood productions by people like Mira Nair, Deepa Mehta, Satyajit Ray and other art movie makers. Indians want awards and recognition but do not want to own the crushing poverty faced by so many of our countrymen. There is no reason to flaunt our inferiority complex and trash the creativity of these artists including Danny Boyle and AR Rahman.
bulong89 you should not talk about things when you don’t have the complete knowledge. Indian films are made on all subject ranging from love to thrillers to action to anything.
If you think we haven’t made films with slums in India then take a look at Salaam Bombay.
And i seems you are unaware of what Slumdog Millionaire really is …its a poverty porn.
capitalists ppl.
there are sooo many songs in those indians movies… the casts always rolling around the mountains and some fields… and they always shoot the video in some european countries… why dont they just shoot some videos in the slums shown in the slumdog millionaire movie?
i like tamil movies more than hindis… they’re less tacky…eventhough the casts are not quite good looking… im sorry…but that’s my opinion..
the other bollywood movies are so lame….
always about a boy who in love with a girl and then some bad guys try to kill or do watever bad stuffs to the either the heroin or the hero…. and i truly amaze me how the hero will simply DONT fall down dead if they’re shoot with M-16… however the bad guys have short life… they will tell their evil plan to the good guys and give the good guys time to escape… what a bullshit..
Yeah. But they also started a trust fund for him.
Did you know that the producers of this movie only paid 2500 to the main kid in the movie and now that he is back in his country he’s just living back in poverty. I think this is a slap in the face that this movie has made all this money and he’s being exploited by American Producers great job America.

About you’re being an expatriate, out of what country were you tossed? I’m sure the government knew what it was doing by giving you the heave ho.You call me racist and bigoted but then write that I’m probably just another immigrant? That tells whom is the bigot. Our Founding Fathers were all immigrants & so was my dad. The USA is a land of immingrants so what’s your problem, junior?Hell, you’re a runaway stooge, not an expat. You dislike “Button” because you can’t comprehend the beauty of the story.
i enjoyd the movie.. dont giv a rats ass abt wat ny one rites on this video…
HA!
I don’t like Arabs. I’m not Arab. I’m an expat. I’ll tell you what I think when I want to. I’ve visited Hollywood too. I probably know more about Hollywood than you. Opinion is relative. Button was pathetic. My opinion.
So not only are YOU the arrogant one, you are also RACIST, BIGOTED, IGNORANT and STUPID. Read a newspaper mofo. Think before playing the “America” card, since you’re probably just another immigrant anyways. America is trillions is debt. You < Me.
A cuckoo from the UAE has the nerve to tell me I have no right to my opinion? Who the hell does the camel jockey think he’s trying to boss around? Listen up, fella, Hollywood is AMERICA. I’m an American who has visited Hollywood. I know the history of Hollywood.I know a good movie & a bad one. “Slumdog” was an interesting film but far from masterpiece status. “Button”most certainly was a MASTERPIECE which deserved to win and so did Brad Pitt. Go watch an Arab or pump some oil,you arrogant fool.
Danny Boyle is a genius, the spirit of the film is amazing. he persevered when the money men were looking at the bottom line. Respect to that. He is a true inspiration!
